DESIGN TEAM (in order of appearance)
Avinash is a Product Design graduate from NIFT. He was instrumental in setting up India’s first Toy Design Studio with UNIDO, and also holds a visiting faculty position with NIFT Delhi. Avinash leads design research within Quicksand and is part of the founding team. After hours, he is also a VJ with the highly acclaimed electronic music ensemble, B.L.O.T. (Basic Love of Things)
Kapil is a film-maker, a photographer and has worked as a camera-man, director and editor on various films and documentaries before co-founding Quicksand. Kapil is a graduate of the Satyajit Ray Film & Television Institute in Kolkata and has broad-based skills in music and communication. He anchors all creative processes within the studio.
Ayush is a management graduate from IIM, Ahmedabad, and prior to that an engineering graduate from IIT Delhi. Before co-founding Quicksand, Ayush worked in the Corporate Brand team at ICICI Bank handling projects in advertising, media & research. He also did a stint in the new rural banking initiative of the bank in 2004 driving product & service delivery innovations. Ayush anchors all business operations, business strategy and project management.
Neha is a Product Design graduate from the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad. She has worked with Titan, Bangalore and has strong interests in Structural Packaging, Consumer Products design and Systems Design. Neha is a senior designer at Quicksand and specializes in design methodologies & research.
Babitha is a Management graduate from IIM,Ahmedabad, and an English and Journalism major prior to that. She has worked for Pepsico, iDiscoveri, Nicholas Piramal and The Azim Premji Foundation before deciding to pursue her interests in the creative arts and design led innovation at Quicksand. Babitha anchors the studio’s presence in Bangalore.
Nirat is a management graduate from IIM, Bangalore, and prior to that a graduate from IIT Kharagpur. Before joining Quicksand as a principal, Nirat worked in senior management roles at a Venture Capital funded startup and headed marketing & customer insights. He also had a 2.5 year stint in management consulting (as part of the PWC Strategy practice that got acquired by IBM). Nirat has also founded a social innovation incubator, MetaGood, that conceptualizes and crowd funds social innovation projects.
Rikta is a Product Design graduate from the Symbiosis Institute Of Design, Pune. At Quicksand, Rikta has been a key design researcher on projects in the “design for social impact” domain. She has also been part of conceptual design projects for organizations such as Nokia and Renault
Kassia graduated from Boston University with an MA in South Asian and development studies. A researcher, photographer, and social media enthusiast, she has prior work experience in both academic and artistic fields.
Akshay is a Product Design graduate from Symbiosis Institute of Design, Pune. Having spent a year at Auroville working on various projects relating to renewable energy and sustainability, he is now working at Quicksand as a design researcher.
Rajesh is a Graphic Design graduate from National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad, India and attended the masters program in human-computer interaction design at the Interaction Design Institute, Ivrea, Italy. With 9 years of professional experience, Rajesh has worked extensively in areas of brand communication and human-technology interaction with Infosys and Human Factors. Rajesh leads Brand Development and User Experience.
Mohor is a Graphic Design graduate from National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad, India and has 4 years of professional experience with brand development and communication experiences in real and virtual spaces. Mohor leads brand communication projects.
