UnBox LABS 2014: Future Cities

The UnBox Labs 2014 brought together 35 researchers and creative practitioners from across India and the UK to explore the theme of Future Cities, in the spirit of open-minded and open-ended creative collaboration. The labs were situated over two weeks, at the National Institute of Design Ahmedabad and engaged closely with several city initiatives in the city of Ahmedabad. The fellowship format was amended to allow for more spontaneous and self-driven projects around a broad theme, that allowed for harnessing ideas within collaborative, people-centered settings. We believe this approach to be essential for driving sustainable and inclusive resolutions to the complexities that our collective futures will throw up. The Labs were supported by the Arts & Humanities Research Council UK, British Council and the Science & Innovation Network.
Of the several projects that emerged from the labs, seven have received further funding from the AHRC and BC and will continue work on their projects in the coming months.
