KritiKal Solutions is a technology design house, focused on developing innovative products in ‘Embedded Systems’ and ‘Computer Vision & Image Processing’. Quicksand was commissioned to partner in the design of a Vehicle Underside Scanner that relies on advanced image processing to scan the underside of passing vehicles without the need for them to halt completely. The Vehicle Underside Scanner facilitates faster, secure and easier checks to be carried out on vehicles in potential threat locations. Our role in the project was to design the entire product around the core imaging technology, from the point of view of manufacturing, installation and use. Quicksand also managed production vendors in order to prepare the first prototypes of the product for on-site installation and testing, and created a graphic product identity.

The product was later spun off as an independent company by the name of Kritikal Secure Scan. Quicksand was called in to design the brand identity and initial marketing collaterals for the formal product launch.

KritiKal Solutions is a technology design house, focused on developing innovative products in ‘Embedded Systems’ and ‘Computer Vision & Image Processing’. Incubated within Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, KritiKal Solutions commissioned Quicksand to partner them in the design of two adaptations of a GSM base security device – one for the home and one for vehicles. Sold under the umbrella of the Amsaki brand, the design for the devices works around the core technology and as a layer over existing security systems. A SMS notifies the owner of possible threats of theft by forced entry, and also relays a consistent stream of Cell-Site information from the SIM card inside the device to the owner, allowing tracking and retrieval. Quicksand’s role in the project included developing the product form and aesthetics and building a prototype that housed the technology and was fit for production. The subsequent production has yielded a successful product and brand that has been cited by press and media for its benefits to consumers.
