Understanding User Experience of Waste Water Treatment Technology

Project Brief

RTI approached us to do a study to understand how cleaning and maintenance practices influence the system performance of a well-known waste water treatment technology.

We visited several toilet sites in Tamilnadu, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh where this technology is in use. During these visits we met toilet manufactures, installation team, supervisors, janitors and toilet users.

Through a mix of structured and semi-structured interviews with the toilet supervisors and shadowing the janitors, we managed to understand their practices and changes influenced by the new technology. Our interaction with the installation team led to some insights on the training and maintenance followed by the Manufactures.

All the information gathered during the project helped RTI to better understand how the technology is appropriated by different manufactures and practices followed by the end users.
